Quality assurance manual

The quality assurance manual describes the aims of the Norwegian Cervical Cancer Screening Programme. The ultimate goal of the screening programme is to reduce the incidence and mortality from cervical cancer. This can be achieved by a high attendance rate (at least 80 %), valid tests and high quality smear taking and laboratory work.

The quality assurance manual deals with;

-the organization of the screening programme

-information to the personnel involved in screening activities as well as to the public

-human papillomavirus (HPV), testing and vaccination

-smear taking procedures

-laboratory work

-quality requirements for laboratories and staff

-classification systems

-registration of smears and evaluation of results
