The Norwegian Breast Cancer Screening Programme is part of the public health care system in Norway. The Cancer Registry of Norway administrates the programme. The objective is to reduce the mortality of breast cancer among invited women.
The Norwegian Breast Cancer Screening Programme invites all women between 50 and 69 years of age to mammography (x-ray examination of the breasts) every two years. The breast clinics are the regional screening centres where the mammograms are read and stored. Further examinations take place at the breast clinics.
