The following variables are the most sought-after and used in the registry's incidence database.

Here you can find a list over our core variables for every patient and cancer case. See Documentation of variables for more detailed description.

For the cancer types that have a clinical registry, we register additional information about f.ex. diagnostics and treatmet.

Core variables

Patient information

  • Year of birth
  • Gender
  • County at time of diagnosis
  • Age at time of diagnosis

Disease information

  • Year of diagnosis
  • Certainty of diagnosis
  • Localisation
  • Topography
  • Morphology
  • Basis of diagnosis
  • Extent of the disease
    • Metastasis
    • Stage*

* Stage is only relevant for breast, cervical cancer and lymphomas. The completeness is dependent on the clinician's reporting level

Possible variables for projects studying survival/mortality

  • Status
  • Status year
  • Underlying cause of death
  • Follow-up

Possible variables for projects studying treatment

  • Surgical procedures
  • Radiation
  • Chemotherapy*
  • Hormone therapy*
  • Other treatment*

* The quality of these data are dependent on the clinician's reporting level. This is often information given on the time of diagnosis, and is thus information on planned treatment. If the actual treatment deviates from the planned treatment, this is not necessarily registered in the Cancer Registry.
