The bias criteria is based on biological variation within and between individuals. If the percentage difference in component level between fresh and long term stored samples does not exceed the allowed bias, one may report the difference as negligible.

With new technology, the Janus material can be used in genetic studies. It has been demonstrated that the miRNA and DNA found in the samples are of sufficient quality to perform sequencing analyses.
