Responsibilities / interests:
Larsen has worked at the Cancer Registry of Norway since 1998, and is now employed as a researcher at the Department of Registration.
She has since 2011 been the Editor-in-chief of our yearly publication «Cancer in Norway».
In recent years, she has participated in a research project led by the Women's Clinic at Rikshospitalet. The project aimed to investigate risk of cancer after fertility treatment in Norway. She is now leading a project on cancer in immigrants.
Larsen has also been involved in studies on data quality at the Cancer Registry.
She is a board member of the Janus Serum bank, menber of the reference group for the National Quality Register for colorectal cancer, where she is involved in various projects, and member of a national group on non-communicable diseases led by the Norwegian Institute of Public Health.
Education / Background:
Larsen completed her Master of Science in Biology in 1996 at the University of Tromsø.
She completed her PhD at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Oslo in 2007 with the dissertation: "Colorectal Cancer Screening by Flexible Sigmoidoscopy: Acceptance of Screening, Risk Factors for Neoplasia, and Impact of Screening on Future Health behaviour."
The dissertation was a part-project in the NORCCAP study. This was a randomized study on screening for colorectal cancer
