Helga Helseth Hektoen

Helga H. Hektoen started working as a postdoc at the Cancer Registry in 2017.

She is interested in studying associations between lifestyle factors (obesity, physical activity, metabolic factors, Vitamin D) and bladder cancer: incidence and survival.

Background

Helga has a master’s degree in Science, Chemistry and Biotechnology, from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.

She received her PhD from the University of Oslo in 2015. The work was performed at the Department of Tumor Biology, Norwegian Radium Hospital, and the title of her thesis was: “Translational studies of microenvironmental factors in rectal cancer, with emphasis on tumor hypoxia”.
