Hanne Stensheim is doing research on pregnancy-associated cancer and leading the post doc project called “Cancer and pregnancy, what do we know and what do we think we know”. The scientific title of the project is «A registry-based study of cancer and reproduction —fertility after cancer, outcomes in the offspring, and survival of pregnancy-associated cancer”.
The study aims to assess maternal health during pregnancies and deliveries after cancer, the prognosis for women being diagnosed with breast cancer during or shortly after a pregnancy, and if women with breast cancer and a history of pre-eclampsia have better prognosis than women without pre-eclampsia in the past.
Hanne Stensheim is member of International Network on Cancer, Infertility and Pregnancy, INCIP, an international group aiming to update the knowledge about pregnancy-associated cancer. She has also participated in national and international groups developing guidelines for fertility preservation during cancer treatment and handling and treatment of pregnant cancer patients.
Hanne Stensheim studied medicine at the University of Umeå, Sweden. She has worked at Oncology department at Oslo University Hospital for several years. As a clinician, she is interested in palliative medicine and cancer in association to fertility and pregnancy.
Her PhD from the University in Oslo was entitled «A registry-based study of cancer and reproduction —fertility after cancer, outcomes in the offspring, and survival of pregnancy-associated cancer” (2014).
