Luca Pestarino joined the Cancer Registry of Norway in 2022 as a postdoctoral fellow and is working on the project "RNA expression and genetic variants in the causal estimation of risk of endometrial cancer - a Mendelian randomization study". His research interests mainly include machine learning and learning methods and their application in clinical scenarios. Pestarino completed his PhD in Data Science and Calculations at Alma Mater Studiorum at the University of Bologna in March 2022.
Luca Pestarino joined the Cancer Registry of Norway in 2022 as a postdoctoral fellow and is working on the project "RNA expression and genetic variants in the causal estimation of risk of endometrial cancer - a Mendelian randomization study". The main objective of this research is to investigate the mechanisms underlying the development of endometrial cancer by studying pre-diagnostic circulating RNAs and genetic variants in samples from the Janus Serum Bank.
His research interests mainly include machine learning and deep learning methods and their application in clinical scenarios.
Pestarino completed his PhD in Data Science and calculations at Alma Mater Studiorum at the University of Bologna in March 2022. His research was carried out in collaboration with the Computational and Chemical Biology Laboratory of the Italian Institute of Technology. His doctoral thesis was titled "Challenges and opportunities of machine learning for clinical and omics data" and mainly involved the use of machine learning techniques to develop predictive models for clinical data, with the goal of understanding the causes of analyzed diseases at a deeper level.
