Seksjon for molekylær epidemiologi og infeksjoner
Vår forskning er basert på bruk av molekylære data fra biobanker, epidemiologiske data fra helseregistre og screeningprogrammer, samt data fra spørreskjema- og helseundersøkelser. Mange av våre prosjekter er tverrfaglige og involverer både epidemiologisk, molekylærbiologisk og klinisk kompetanse.
Et viktig tema for vår forskning er HPV-relatert kreft, og vi har flere prosjekter om HPV-vaksinering og screening mot livmorhalskreft. Et annet hovedtema for seksjonen er biomarkørforskning basert på biologisk materiale fra den prospektive populasjonsbaserte Janus serumbank, og andre biobanker. Vi jobber også med å tilrettelegge for forskningssamarbeid mellom Kreftregisteret og legemiddelindustrien, og med utvikling av statistiske metoder for å analysere komplekse datasett.
Seksjonen er i tillegg ansvarlig for drift av flere av Kreftregisterets biobanker og laboratoriefasiliteter, og har ansatte innen forskningsstøtte, biobankdrift og laboratoriefunksjoner.
Vi samarbeider tett med de andre seksjonene i avdelingen, og med molekylærepidemiologiske og kliniske forskingsmiljøer både nasjonalt og internasjonalt.
