Endogene hormoner og prostatakreft

Androgener som er nødvendig for normal vekst og utvikling av prostata- kjertelen er blitt foreslått som mulige risikofaktorer for utvikling av prostatakreft. Endogenous Hormones and Prostate Cancer Collaborative Group ble etablert i 2004 for å gjøre poolede analyser på orginaldata fra studier på sammenheng mellom endogene hormoner, IGF og risiko for prostatakreft.

Prosjektbeskrivelse

Prostatakreft er den andre mest vanlige kreftform hos menn på verdensbasis, og så langt har de etablerte risikofaktorene for denne kreftformen vært alder, rase og familiær disposisjon.
 
Androgener som er nødvendig for normal vekst og utvikling av prostata- kjertelen er blitt foreslått som mulige risikofaktorer for utvikling av prostatakreft. Endogenous Hormones and Prostate Cancer Collaborative Group ble etablert i 2004 for å gjøre poolede analyser på orginaldata fra studier på sammenheng mellom endogene hormoner, IGF og risiko for prostatakreft.
 
Et utvidet prosjekt som innkluderer 41 studier skal undersøke flere komponenter som livsstil og antropometri, androgener, østrogen- og gonadotropin Insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), fettsyrer, fosfolipider, cartinoider, tocopherol, retinol, vitaminer og mineraler, fytoøstrogen, kolesterol og glucose i plasma eller serum.
